Dr Pius Gadosey serves as the Senior Lecturer and Head of Computer Science Department at Lancaster University Ghana. As a renowned academic, research and technology leader, his action and focus have been on Artificial Intelligence, computer vision and machine learning. He has particularly targeted on developing efficient deep learning architectures for resource-constrained environments.
Dr. Gadosey holds a PhD in Computer Science from Beijing University of Technology, China, where his doctoral research focused on designing computationally efficient deep learning models for computer vision applications under low-resource conditions. He also earned a Master of Engineering from Beijing University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. His doctoral studies were supported by the prestigious Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship.
His research interests span artificial intelligence, deep learning, computer vision, and resource-efficient AI. Along has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and conferences, including research recognised with the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer and Artificial Intelligence (ICCAI) in 2020. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds certifications in Generative Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models from NVIDIA, as well as a Distinction from the Centre for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP).
As Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Gadosey has led significant academic and departmental growth, strengthening programme quality, increasing student enrolment, and maintaining consistently high completion rates. Under his leadership, the department has produced two University Valedictorians, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Being an ardent advocate for STEM education, Dr Gadosey was instrumental in securing funding to establish the Emerging Technologies Lab and champions industry-linked learning, with many students placed in internships during their studies.
Beyond academia, Dr. Gadosey is an active contributor to Ghana’s technology and innovation ecosystem. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences including the Ghana Data Science Summit (IndabaX), AIDEC AI series, the Nyansapo AI Symposium where he shares insights on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
Beyond the university, he has served on Ghana’s National EdTech Strategy Committee and co-leads STEMR Tech Labs, an educational NGO that has trained hundreds of young people and over 50 teachers in robotics and STEM, including the team that won the 2024 Ghana Robotics Competition. He is also Co-Founder of Innova Labs Ltd, a software development company serving clients across Ghana and the UK.
