Transnational Academic Group, in partnership with Lancaster University UK, delivers British undergraduate, postgraduate, and foundation programmes at its campus in Ghana. As we move onto the next exciting phase of our mission to develop tomorrow’s African leaders, we seek to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a passion for innovation to a full-time Emerging Technologies Centre Technician position at Lancaster University Ghana’s computer science department. The successful candidate will be vital in managing lab operations and supporting cutting-edge research and educational activities.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Includes, but is not restricted to:
- Lab Management:
- Oversee the organisation, cleanliness, and functionality of the Labs.
- Ensure all equipment and tools are well-maintained and in working order.
- Manage the inventory of lab supplies and equipment, ordering new stock as needed.
- Develop and implement lab policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of operations.
- Technical Support:
- Assist students and faculty with the setup and operation of lab equipment during classes and research sessions.
- Provide technical expertise and support using robotics kits, AI tools, and related software.
- Troubleshoot and repair lab equipment as needed to ensure minimal downtime.
- Project Development:
- Support the development and implementation of innovative robotics and AI projects.
- Collaborate with students and faculty on research initiatives, competitions, and practical projects.
- Contribute to securing funding and partnerships for lab projects where applicable.
- Training and Safety:
- Conduct training sessions on lab equipment usage and safety protocols.
- Ensure all lab users adhere to health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date records of safety certifications and compliance.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of lab activities, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for lab operations.
- Support the marketing activities of the lab as appropriate, including Open Days, demonstrations, and workshops.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
