Gautama Sreenivasan - Executive Director - Infrastructure, West Africa

Gautama Sreenivasan serves as Board Member of Transnational Academic Group (TAG) Ghana and Director – Infrastructure & Strategic Partnerships, where he provides strategic oversight of the Group’s infrastructure portfolio and leads initiatives that support institutional growth, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability. He is also an accomplished infrastructure strategist, board director, and former military officer with more than 35 years of leadership experience, spanning across higher education, real estate, facilities management, and capital projects.

Since joining TAG in 2016, Gautama has played a pivotal role in strengthening the infrastructure platform of Lancaster University Ghana. He has led several high-impact initiatives, including spearheading the acquisition of 12 acres of university land, negotiating a 20-year lease on a 5-acre standalone campus with a capacity of 4,000 students that delivered annual savings of approximately US$300,000.

He also led the redevelopment and refurbishment of the campus, converting it from a former K-12 facility into a fully operational university campus with student accommodation within three months, ensuring a seamless transition to support academic operations. He also orchestrated the establishment of a US$250,000 Emerging Technologies Laboratory focused on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, strengthening the University’s academic, research and innovation capabilities. His commitment to sustainability also led to the partnership with the Ghana Council for Scientific and Industrial Research to operationalize a biogas digester. 

Prior to joining TAG Ghana, Gautama held senior leadership roles at CBRE Group, Bally Technologies, and Merrill Technology Services. In these positions, he managed large-scale facilities, real estate transactions, engineering systems, retrofits, administration and compliance programs across complex corporate and technology environments. His achievements include leading the commissioning and operationalization of a 3.5 million square foot Technology Park in a Special Economic Zone in India, as well as managing a 1.2 million square foot USGBC Gold-certified technology park. 

Gautama began his professional career as a Commissioned officer in the Indian Army, where he served with distinction for 24 years. During his military career, he held several senior engineering, infrastructure, logistics, and operational appointments, overseeing the development of large-scale accommodation, schools, and military, Airforce and Coast Guard stations, with project values exceeding US$100 million, gaining extensive expertise in strategic planning, project execution, and operational leadership.

He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Military Engineering, Pune, and a Bachelor of Science from the National Defense Academy, Pune. He also holds a certificate in Real Estate Economics & Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE).
