Lancaster University Ghana (LUG) welcomes over 15 organisations for its first ever Careers Fair

On 22nd February 2017 Lancaster University Ghana held its Inaugural Careers Fair attracting over 15 companies to campus.

The Careers Fair was a one-day event that brought together the Lancaster Community as well as representatives from several industries across the country.
“The fair provided opportunities for interaction at various career development levels, helped participants understand the challenges and opportunities that exist in the work environment and create a platform for recruiting LUG students”, said Akua Ampah, Careers and Internships Coordinator (Lancaster University Ghana).

Some of the organisations present at this fair were MTN Ghana, Airtel Ghana, Vodafone Ghana, UT Bank Limited, Access Bank, Google Africa, Zeepay, Millward Brown, MeQasa, Growth Mosaic, L’Oreal, Chalkboard, Crystal Capital and Investments Limited, Africa Lead, Odara Fashion amongst others. For most organisations present, the highlight of the fair was the quality of interactions they had with LUG students, especially with the final year students.

Several competitions also run as the career fair progressed. The “Elevator Pitch”, which required students to convince a prospective employer to hire them within a 5-minute time limit, word game, interview competition and outstanding CV competitions.

Companies that sponsored awards for competitions were MTN Ghana Limited, Access Bank Ghana, L’Oreal, Airtel Ghana Limited, Meqasa, UT Bank Limited, Crystal Capital & Investments.
