Competing with plenty of enthusiasm and support from Lancaster University Ghana academic and non-academic staff, our contingent of 16 participants worked 24 hours non-stop in the “Social Storm” social entrepreneurship hackathon. Some of our students found themselves paired up with teams from Lancaster UK or else Goenka Institute (India), another Lancaster partner.
The Social Storm is an experiential learning opportunity for students that facilitates a connection of passionate young people, to allow them to collaborate on finding innovative solutions to global situations. This event brought together over 15 universities and their students tackling 2 global issues: food security and sustainable housing which stems from the UN’s Global Goals.
The aim of the hackathon is to inspire students with great examples of social enterprises, businesses and projects happening around us, develop students’ enterprise and employability skills and knowledge of business as well as demonstrating the potential technology has to change how we communicate our ideas and collaborate across countries
